Brayden Parks, a highly touted defensive tackle out of Brother Rice High School in Chicago, announced his commitment to the University of Notre Dame on Wednesday, securing a spot in the Fighting Irish’s 2027 recruiting class.
A Chicago Pipeline Strengthens the Irish
Ranked as the seventh-best player in Illinois and the 18th-best defensive line prospect nationwide by 247Sports, Parks considered offers from a staggering 41 programs, among them Alabama, Oregon, Indiana, Florida, Auburn, Michigan, LSU, USC, Texas A&M, Texas and Ohio State, before electing to join the Irish.
His decision was influenced by personal ties to the program; Parks is the godson of former Notre Dame star Chris Zorich and the cousin of former Irish running back Tony Jones Jr., while also being one of three Chicago-area athletes joining the class alongside Roman Igwebuike and David Folorunsho.
During his sophomore season, Parks posted 7.5 sacks, 61 total tackles, 23 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and an interception, helping Brother Rice capture the IHSA 7A State Championship and cementing his reputation as a disruptive force on the line.
The commitment adds to a 2027 roster that already boasts two five-star prospects and 14 four-star athletes, positioning Notre Dame’s defensive line as one of the most talent‑laden in the country as the program eyes a national championship run in the 2026 season.
This signing follows a busy offseason in which the Irish reshaped their defensive front through the transfer portal, welcoming transfers Tionne Gray and Francis Brewu, while freshmen Rodney Dunham, Ebenezer Ewetade and Tiki Hola are expected to contribute immediately.
Coaches believe the influx of interior talent, highlighted by Parks and Folorunsho, will give Notre Dame a deep, elite group of defensive linemen capable of competing at the highest level.
