Versatility Takes Center Stage
Transfer Caden Pierce, who comes from the Ivy League, displayed his ability to attack the rim from multiple angles, while newcomer Enzo Shahrvin impressed with his physicality and size despite being ineligible for the Vancouver games. Both players are expected to provide depth at the forward positions and help offset the loss of several key contributors from last season.
Assistant Coach Paul Lusk emphasized that the overseas excursion is as much about chemistry as it is about tactics. "The trip will give us a chance to bond, experience different styles of play and see how our new pieces click under pressure," he said, noting that the team’s ball‑movement concepts are designed to create easy baskets at the rim through screening and spacing.
A Blend of Experience and Youth
The current roster mixes seasoned veterans with promising young talent, creating a competitive environment that Coach Painter believes will sharpen the squad before the regular season. Names such as Luke Ertel, PJ Thompson, CJ Cox, Gicarri Harris, Jack Benter, Kraig Bowers, Daniel Jacobsen and Raleigh Burgess are all expected to contribute in various roles, from perimeter shooting to defensive versatility.
With the practice concluded, the Boilermakers will now travel to Vancouver for a series of exhibition matches that will serve as a final gauge of readiness. The experience is viewed as a critical stepping stone as the program looks to translate its summer work into on‑court success when the new campaign begins.
