A New Chapter for USF Basketball
The University of San Francisco’s men’s basketball program has added a dynamic guard to its roster, announcing the signing of Wisdom Fode, a 6‑9 wing whose wingspan stretches to six feet nine inches. The move comes as the Dons aim to reinforce their backcourt ahead of the upcoming season.
Coach Chris Gerlufsen emphasized that Fode’s attitude, work ethic and relentless drive to improve were the primary factors behind the offer. “He brings a rare combination of size, explosiveness and a hunger to get better every day,” Gerlufsen said in the announcement.
A Profile of Potential
Fode’s high school journey took him from Des Moines, Iowa, where he starred at Des Moines North and Hoover High, to Phoenix, Arizona, for his senior year at Bella Vista Prep. There he posted averages of 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals per game, showcasing a well‑rounded skill set.
During his time with Team Supreme AZ, a premier independent grassroots and AAU program, he attracted interest from several Division I schools, including Kansas State, Monmouth and Bethune‑Cookman, before committing to the Dons.
Looking Ahead
The coaching staff believes Fode’s physical tools and basketball IQ will translate well to the West Coast Conference schedule. With his blend of size, shooting and defensive instincts, he is expected to contribute immediately while continuing his development under Gerlufsen’s guidance.
