Indiana University's men's basketball program has confirmed the addition of Sam Alexis to its roster for the forthcoming FISU America Games. The former Hoosier arrives in Peru after a stint in the NBA Summer League with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he logged modest but promising numbers.
A Late‑Season Boost
Alexis, who averaged 3.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game during his summer league appearance, is expected to provide depth and defensive versatility as the Hoosiers open their group‑stage schedule. His arrival comes just days after he touched down in Peru, where the team is currently based for pre‑tournament preparations.
The squad will be without two players who were expected to contribute significantly. SMU transfer Samet Yigitoglu, who has been training with the group in Peru, is ineligible to represent Team USA at the event, while freshman signee Clemens Sokolov is not slated to join the roster until August.
Opening Match Against Peru
Indiana's first test will be a matchup against Peru on Tuesday night, marking the start of the group stage. The game will serve as a litmus test for the newly integrated roster and the team's chemistry under head coach Mike White.
Beyond the immediate contest, the FISU America Games offer a platform for collegiate talent to showcase their abilities on an international stage. Indiana's participation underscores the program's continued emphasis on developing players who can compete at both domestic and global levels.
