The Creve Coeur Park Soccer Complex in Missouri is set for a major expansion that will add three new fields and a modern administration building, a project backed by a $6.8 million investment.
St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page announced the plan, noting that the money comes from a tourism tax that voters approved in 1990, a revenue stream that has now been earmarked for sports infrastructure.
The expansion also includes a new park office equipped with locker rooms, a classroom and upgraded lighting, designed to support larger tournaments and improve the overall visitor experience.
A boost for regional soccer ambitions
By increasing the number of fields and upgrading facilities, the complex hopes to attract regional and national competitions that have previously gravitated toward venues in Kansas City and other Midwestern hubs.
Organizers say the upgrades will make organized soccer more affordable for families, offering scholarships, reduced registration fees and easier access to equipment, a goal that aligns with growing youth participation rates.
During a recent 24‑day stretch this summer the complex hosted more than 14,000 players representing over 800 teams from 29 states, underscoring the strong demand and the community’s role as a regional soccer hub.
Dr. Page estimates that construction on the new building will take about a year, and the proposal must still be reviewed and appropriated by the county government before work can begin.
If approved, the improvements will not only expand the complex’s capacity but also reinforce Missouri’s reputation as a growing center for the sport, drawing visitors and fostering local talent.
