McDaniel and Tichý are notable for having received the VaSID honor in back-to-back years, underscoring their sustained commitment to academic excellence.
Their recognitions reflect the university’s growing emphasis on integrating rigorous academics with competitive sports, a synergy that has become a hallmark of the JMU experience.
A Tradition of Excellence
The VaSID Academic All-State Team, administered by the Virginia Sports Information Directors, celebrates student-athletes who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 while competing at the collegiate level. This year’s cohort continues a multi-year trend of JMU athletes being prominently featured.
University officials praised the students for their dedication, noting that the accolade not only brings personal distinction but also elevates the institution’s reputation in both the classroom and the conference arena.
Coaches and faculty alike anticipate that the recognition will inspire future generations of Dukes to pursue excellence in all facets of college life.
