Le Moyne College revealed this week that Colin Daly will join the program as an assistant coach, stepping into the role vacated by Benny Marello, who left to pursue another coaching opportunity. The announcement underscores the university’s intent to reinforce its basketball staff with a candidate who blends on‑court experience with operational know‑how.
Daly comes to Le Moyne after three seasons at North Carolina A&T University, where he contributed to a 25‑win campaign and managed a range of program logistics, including travel coordination, meal planning, practice scheduling and recruiting visits. His ability to streamline these behind‑the‑scenes elements was cited as a key factor in the team’s recent success.
Head coach Nate Champion praised Daly’s basketball IQ and playing pedigree, noting that the former point guard’s understanding of game dynamics will enrich the Dolphins’ tactical approach. Champion emphasized that Daly’s experience as a player at the collegiate level provides a unique perspective that complements his new coaching responsibilities.
Prior to his coaching career, Daly served as a graduate manager at Temple University, where he also played for the Owls and earned academic recognition on the NABC Honors Court. He logged 71 games for West Chester University, scoring 371 points and pulling down 113 rebounds, shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from three‑point range. His final season featured a season‑high seven points against South Florida, highlighting his clutch contributions.
