Rising Stars Emerge
Three Vicksburg baseball players were recognized with all‑tournament honors at the National Amateur Baseball Federation High School World Series and the Mississippi Little League state championship, underscoring the region’s growing talent.
Thomas Antwine, a rising senior at Porter’s Chapel Academy, was crowned MVP after leading the Jackson 96ers Red to a flawless 7‑0 record. He batted .500 in the tournament, drove in three runs, scored seven times, and won all three of his starts on the mound, capping his performance with a championship victory over the Bama Ballers Baseball team.
Brooks Broome, a junior infielder and pitcher at Warren Central, contributed a .500 average at the plate, going 6‑for‑12 with four RBIs and four runs scored, while also delivering strong defensive work.
Cohen Coomes of St. Aloysius earned a spot on the all‑tournament team for the Jackson 96ers Blue squad, adding depth to the local representation.
Path to Williamsport
Meanwhile, Ruston Landers and Brently Ashley powered the Clinton Baseball Association to the Mississippi Little League state title. Ashley tossed 5 ⅓ innings allowing just two hits and added two hits at the plate in the championship game, while Landers also collected two hits. The team will travel to Waco, Texas, for the Southwest Regional, where all games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Competing against six other state champions, the Mississippi representatives aim to secure a berth in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, a dream that could further spotlight the state’s emerging baseball pipeline.
