The University of Michigan’s men’s basketball team, fresh off a national championship, is set to depart for Europe this August on a nine‑day tour that will take them to Lithuania and Croatia. The trip is financed by private supporters through the U‑M Athletic Development department and will see the Wolverines play three exhibition games while participating in cultural and team‑building activities.
The itinerary begins with an arrival in Lithuania, where the team will face two local clubs before moving on to Croatia for a matchup against Mega Superbet from Serbia. Throughout the nine days the squad will also engage in cultural excursions designed to strengthen cohesion and broaden international exposure.
A Strategic Step Beyond Borders
Head coach Dusty May emphasized that the tour is about more than just basketball; it is a deliberate effort to give the players valuable bonding time and a taste of competitive play abroad as they prepare for the 2026‑27 season.
This marks the program’s fourth foreign tour, recalling earlier trips to Belgium, Italy, Spain and a combined France‑Greece itinerary, underscoring a long‑standing commitment to global experience that complements the team’s domestic ambitions.
In addition to the games, the schedule guarantees ten extra preseason practices, giving the Wolverines additional time to refine tactics and chemistry before they return to the United States on August 29.
