A New Chapter for Jones Stadium
The university revealed that its football stadium will henceforth be called Galaxy Stadium, a change that concludes the legacy of Clifford B. Jones and Audrey Jones, whose names adorned the venue for three‑quarters of a century.
The renaming is the result of a long‑term naming‑rights partnership with Galaxy, a financial services and technology firm that specializes in digital assets and data‑center infrastructure. The agreement, valued at approximately $75 million, represents the first time the stadium will operate under a name that does not honor the Jones family.
Under the deal, Galaxy will assume the role of official data‑center and digital‑assets partner for Texas Tech Athletics, a relationship that will be reflected across all Texas Tech sports programs. The first phase of Galaxy’s Helios data‑center campus, situated near Afton, Texas, forms the backbone of this collaboration.
The partnership also opens new name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities for Texas Tech student‑athletes, giving them access to Galaxy’s digital‑asset platforms and related incentives.
The inaugural game under the new branding is slated for September 5, when the Red Raiders host Abilene Christian, marking the start of a new chapter for the program.
