Mountain West Unveils 2027 Basketball Tournament Format

Ten-team brackets will be contested at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center, with games broadcast on CBS and streamed via MW+

Revamped Tournament Structure

The Mountain West Conference has revealed that its 2027 men's and women's basketball tournaments will each feature a ten‑team field, taking place at UNLV's Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

The women's competition is slated to run from March 7 through March 10, while the men's event will culminate with the championship game on March 13, creating a tightly packed schedule of high‑stakes matchups.

To reward regular‑season performance, the top six finishers will receive byes into the quarterfinals, adding a layer of strategic advantage and extra rest for those teams.

All games will be carried by CBS, CBS Sports Network and the MW+ streaming platform, ensuring broad exposure across traditional television and digital channels.

Commissioner Gloria Nevarez said the new format expands postseason opportunities and provides Mountain West programs with more meaningful competition, a move she believes will boost visibility and fan engagement.
