Community Basketball Camp Returns to Santa Fe
The Santa Fe Family Life Center, in partnership with the Chris Crook Foundation, is set to host a free basketball camp aimed at sharpening the fundamentals of local youth. The initiative seeks to give participants a clear pathway to elevate their game before the upcoming season.
Organizers emphasized that the camp is open to all skill levels and will focus on shooting, ball‑handling, and defensive techniques. By removing cost barriers, the program hopes to reach families that might otherwise miss out on structured basketball development.
A Coach With Pro Experience
Chris Crook, a former Oklahoma City Blue player and NBA G‑League standout, will lead the on‑court sessions. Having trained under the tutelage of Thunder General Manager Sam Presti, Crook brings a deep understanding of the organization’s player development philosophy.
Crook plans to share the specific drills and mental approaches that helped him transition from the G‑League to higher levels of competition. His hands‑on approach is designed to give each participant a tangible takeaway that can be applied immediately.
Support From the Thunder Organization
The Oklahoma City Thunder, represented by the OKC Blue affiliate, is lending its resources and branding to the camp. The partnership underscores the team’s commitment to grassroots basketball and community engagement in New Mexico.
Sam Presti, the Thunder’s General Manager, will contribute strategic insights and motivational messages throughout the clinic. His involvement highlights the organization’s belief that investment in youth sports yields long‑term benefits for the region.
