Luke Dejnozka, a right‑handed reliever from Saratoga Central Catholic, announced his verbal commitment to Binghamton University, joining the Bearcats’ baseball program for the upcoming season.
A Standout Performer
During the 2026 campaign he posted a 4‑0 record with a 1.32 earned‑run average, striking out 51 batters across 13 appearances. He also contributed at the plate, batting .483 and driving in 13 runs.
His achievements include back‑to‑back state championships with the Saints, a Section 2 final save, and a pivotal relief win in the 2025 state semifinals that helped the team edge Burke Catholic 5‑2.
Choosing the Bearcats
Dejnozka narrowed his options to Binghamton, Army and Siena before selecting the Bearcats, citing the academic fit of a business major and the opportunity to compete at the Division I level.
Coach Phonsey Lambert, who has guided the Saints for several seasons, praised the pitcher’s work ethic and highlighted his role as a key catalyst for the team’s recent success.
Looking Forward
When the Saints take the field in 2027 they will do so at the Class B level, a transition that Dejnozka says will better prepare him for the rigors of college competition.
