Tournament Schedule
The state tournament of American Legion baseball is set to take place at Sims Legion Park in Gastonia from July 24 through July 29, bringing together teams from across the region in a series of elimination and consolation contests.
Opening day on Friday, July 24, features the Gaston Braves hosting Shelby at 1 p.m., while the following morning sees Rowan County take on Wilmington Red at 10 a.m. and Cherryville meet Wilson at 1 p.m.
Saturday’s slate includes a 4 p.m. contest between Beulaville and Union County, followed by a 7 p.m. game that pits the winner of the opening matchup against Garner.
Sunday, July 26, begins with a 9 a.m. game that sees the loser of the first contest face the loser of the second, and proceeds through a series of matches that determine which teams advance, including a 2 p.m. showdown between the winner of game six and the loser of game three, a 4:30 p.m. clash between the winners of games two and three, and a 7 p.m. encounter that pits the winner of game four against the winner of game five.
The tournament moves into its later stages on Monday, July 27, with a 1 p.m. game that matches the winner of game seven against the loser of game nine, and a 4 p.m. contest that pairs the winner of game eight with the loser of game ten.
Tuesday, July 28, features a 4 p.m. game that brings together the winners of the previous day’s contests, followed by a 7 p.m. matchup that determines the final opponent for the championship game.
Wednesday, July 29, concludes the tournament with a 4 p.m. game that pits the winner of game eleven against the winner of game twelve, and, if necessary, a 7 p.m. “if‑necessary” game should the winner of that contest lose the final.
