A small soccer specialty store in Tucson experienced an unexpected surge in revenue during the recently concluded 2026 FIFA World Cup, as fans across the United States, Mexico and Canada turned their attention to the tournament's merchandise.
World Cup Merchandise Boom
Diego Morales, who runs The Shop, reported that jerseys representing the Mexican, United States and Argentine national teams were among the top sellers, with roughly 50 units of each design moving off the shelves.
Morales noted that all pre‑ordered jerseys sold out, a marked shift from earlier World Cups when inventory lingered longer.
He also took part in the FIFA Fan Fest held in Dallas, Texas, where he joined thousands of Argentine supporters celebrating the team's run.
Looking Ahead to the New Season
With European club competitions kicking off in August, Morales expects the momentum to continue, anticipating that newly released season jerseys will draw both longtime enthusiasts and back‑to‑school shoppers.
The combination of national pride and the growing popularity of soccer in North America has turned a local storefront into a seasonal hotspot for football fans.
