Friday's championship schedule
The Iowa High School Athletic Association’s state baseball tournament will wrap up on Friday with championship contests in four classes. Pleasant Valley secured its spot in the 4A final after a dramatic 5‑4 victory over Sioux City East in ten innings. Sioux City East’s Callan Koch contributed four hits and an RBI, but the win came on a walk‑off single.
Indianola reached the 4A championship by routing West Des Moines Valley 8‑1. Bryant Ritchie delivered a complete‑game three‑hitter with seven strikeouts, and George Blake added two hits and two runs scored. The Indians’ offense was bolstered by a balanced attack that kept Valley’s pitching under pressure.
Key performances and results
In Class 2A, defending champion Pleasantville advanced with an 8‑5 win over Cascade. Logan Rolf, JJ Phillips, Brayden Kennedy, Brody Adreon and Luke Vestal each drove in a run, and Braylon Bingham closed out the game with two strikeouts. Durant, powered by Colby Gast’s five RBIs and Owen Collier’s complete‑game five‑strikeout performance, will meet Pleasantville for the title.
