SEC Baseball Awards Celebrate Arkansas Excellence
The Southeastern Conference announced its annual baseball honors this week, spotlighting Arkansas University’s standout performers on the mound and in the field.
Hunter Dietz earned first‑team honors as a starting pitcher after posting a 7‑3 record and a 3.32 earned‑run average, a mark that also placed him atop the conference in strikeouts.
Ethan McElvain was selected to the second team as a relief pitcher, boasting a 1.24 ERA and five saves, and he made history as the first Arkansas reliever to receive All‑SEC recognition since Kevin Kopps in 2021.
Ryder Helfrick captured a spot on the All‑Defensive Team, a testament to his status as the nation’s top defender, where his fielding metrics outpaced every collegiate counterpart.
The award ceremony also named Daniel Jackson as Player of the Year, Aidan King as Pitcher of the Year, and Wes Johnson as Coach of the Year, underscoring a comprehensive Arkansas presence across the accolades.
Dietz’s achievement extended beyond the SEC, as he became a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy, further cementing his national reputation.
McElvain’s selection marks a milestone for the program, highlighting the continued emergence of Arkansas arms on the SEC stage.
Together, these honors reflect a season of dominance for the Razorbacks, setting the stage for future campaigns and drawing attention to the university’s growing baseball pedigree.
