Hungary’s women’s hockey team, currently ninth in the world rankings, is poised for a breakthrough after falling just short of promotion in 2026. The squad is entering a pivotal season that could redefine its place on the global stage.
A two‑week training camp in Mátyásföld serves as the first concrete step toward a four‑nation tournament in Füssen, Germany, where the team will meet Germany, France and Norway. The camp’s intensity reflects the coaching staff’s focus on cohesion and tactical refinement.
Head coach Delaney Collins has emphasized that the preparation is not merely about physical readiness but also about embedding a clear playing style. ‘We are working on developing our identity on the ice,’ Collins said, underscoring the importance of chemistry among the veterans and newcomers.
The roster blends seasoned internationals with promising newcomers. Returning World Championship defenders such as Lili Hajdu, Bernadett Németh, Fruzsina Mayer, Boglárka Koncz and Luca Faragó anchor the back line, while goaltenders Anikó Németh, Noémi Zoé Takács and Zsófia Tóth are joined by Csenge Csordás. Up front, veterans including Boglárka Báhiczki‑Tóth, Réka Hiezl, Regina Metzler, Míra Seregély, Emma Kreisz, Madeline Leidt, Zsófia Pázmándi, Petra Polónyi and Krisztina Weiler bring experience, while fresh faces like Imola Horváth, Berta Mozolai and Hayley Williams fight for a spot.

Beyond the immediate tournament, the team’s participation in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) offers a new platform for growth. Captain Lotti Odnoga is slated to attend the PWHL’s Toronto Sceptres training camp this fall, a move that could further elevate the program’s profile.
