The Hammer-Pfeifer 12U baseball team from Hays Baseball Club concluded a standout season that will be remembered as one of the most successful in recent state history. Compiling a 33‑9‑1 record, the squad clinched three separate state championships and rode a 23‑game winning streak that underscored their consistency against top competition across the region.
Their championship portfolio includes the USSSA Class AAA Midwest Global State Championship in Liberty, Missouri, the USSSA West Kansas State Championship in Goddard, and the HAP Dumont Class AAA State Championship also held in Goddard. Each title was earned after navigating a demanding schedule that pitted the team against elite opponents from Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
Coach’s Philosophy
Head coach Jason Pfeifer repeatedly stressed that preparation, teamwork and a focus on controllable factors were the cornerstones of the team’s success. He described the season as a collective effort where every player, coach and supporting family member contributed to a culture of hard work and mental resilience.
The itinerary of games was deliberately challenging, forcing the young athletes to adapt quickly and learn from unfamiliar environments. Traveling throughout the Midwest not only sharpened their skills on the diamond but also reinforced life lessons about perseverance, sportsmanship and the value of community support.
A Season Defined by More Than Wins
Beyond the trophies, the team’s journey highlighted the importance of character development. Parents, volunteers and local sponsors played an integral role, providing logistical support and encouragement that allowed the players to concentrate on growth both as athletes and as individuals.
Looking ahead, the organization hopes to build on this foundation, using the experience gained to mentor future cohorts. The blend of technical skill, strategic preparation and a resilient mindset positions the Hammer-Pfeifer 12U squad as a model for youth baseball excellence in the region.
