On a crisp Thursday afternoon, the Jamestown Police Department faced off against the Jamestown Old Timers in a charity baseball showdown at Diethrick Park, drawing a crowd eager to support a good cause.
The game was organized to benefit the Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County, with every dollar from ticket sales, a 50‑50 raffle and concession stand proceeds funneled directly to the nonprofit.

Midway through the seventh inning, Lieutenant Sam Piazza of the police department stepped onto the field to present a $500 check to representatives of the program, underscoring the personal commitment of local law enforcement to the community's welfare.
The contest featured several standout moments, including a deft groundball handled barehanded by Police Department shortstop Johnny Samuelson and a crisp throw from Old Timers shortstop Wade Nelson that secured an out at first base.
Second baseman Marc Lobdell of the Old Timers demonstrated sharp fielding instincts, delivering a timely throw to first that helped maintain the game's momentum.
