Virginia Tech’s baseball program celebrated a double dose of conference recognition as junior right‑hander Brett Renfrow and freshman infielder Ethan Ball were both honored on the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference awards list.
Renfrow, who finished the regular season with a 5‑2 record and a 4.60 ERA across ten ACC starts, was selected to the All‑ACC Second Team, marking the highest career accolade for the junior pitcher within the league.
Ball burst onto the scene with a .304 batting average, a 1.010 OPS and a team‑best 58 hits, 13 home runs and 47 RBIs, earning him a spot on the All‑Freshman Team and helping the Hokies to a 21‑game on‑base streak.
The two standouts will co‑lead Virginia Tech into the 2026 ACC Baseball Championship, where the Hokies enter as the No. 7 seed and are scheduled to open play on Wednesday, May 20, at 5 p.m. ET.
Renfrow’s recent stretch has seen him win each of his final four conference outings with a 1.53 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP, while Ball’s consistency produced 17 multi‑hit games and 14 multi‑RBI performances throughout the season.
A Freshman’s Immediate Impact
Ball’s debut season not only secured his place on the All‑Freshman Team but also set new program benchmarks for a rookie class, underscoring the excitement surrounding the team’s future.
Coach’s confidence in the duo reflects a broader belief that Virginia Tech’s pitching depth and offensive firepower can compete with the ACC’s traditional powerhouses as they chase a championship run.
