He cited the former Chicago Bulls and Lakers coach’s emphasis on trust as a model for how he approached practice, meetings, and everyday interactions with his squad.
Through weekly film sessions and open‑door conversations, Matta worked alongside his athletes to set clear expectations and to celebrate small victories.
