The proposed facility would occupy a 12‑acre parcel at the southeast corner of the campus and would be developed under a 50‑year lease with Palm Beach Sports Management, a firm that already holds the franchise rights for both the men’s and women’s United Soccer League teams in Palm Beach County.
Financial Framework and Timeline
The project’s budget is projected to fall between $50 million and $60 million, covering construction, site preparation and ancillary amenities. If all goes according to schedule, the stadium aims to open its doors by next summer, a timing choice that aligns with the excitement surrounding the upcoming Women’s World Cup.
Trustee Dave Kerner has publicly questioned the college’s handling of the deal, alleging that the rapid push for the lease may have sidestepped certain state legal requirements. His concerns add a layer of political scrutiny to an otherwise logistical endeavor.
Beyond the campus, the stadium could serve as a home ground for USL franchises owned by Oak View Group and supported by Sport Surfaces, potentially boosting local employment and tourism.
