Homefield Baseball Complex Hits the Market as Part of $838M Development

Sale of Kansas City, Kansas facility aims to fund further bond‑district projects

Sale and Strategic Vision

The Homefield Baseball Complex in Kansas City, Kansas, has been listed for sale at $9.52 million, just two years after its completion. The facility, built with synthetic turf, was conceived as a centerpiece for a broader $838 million mixed‑use project that stretches across the former Schliterbahn water‑park site.

Financing for the complex relied on STAR bonds, which draw on state and local sales‑tax revenues. Those bonds are now being retired, and the sale is intended to generate the cash needed to settle remaining debt while freeing up resources for additional development within the bond district.

Homefield LLC, the developer behind the venture, says the proceeds will be funneled back into the district to support new projects. The complex operates under a 20‑year lease with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County, which must approve the transaction before it can move forward.
