Iowa’s women’s basketball program has taken a decisive step toward the future by extending a scholarship to Taylor Morris, a 6‑foot‑4 forward who tops the 2028 recruiting class in Arizona.
Ranked No 20 nationally by the 2028 SportsCenter NEXT – Super 60 list and the premier prospect in her state according to Prep Girls Hoops, Morris brings a blend of size, skill and scoring that has drawn attention from coast to coast.
During her sophomore and junior seasons at Mesa High School she averaged 14.7 points per game over 55 varsity appearances, while also competing with the Mountain West Premier Nike EYBL team that counts fellow Hawkeyes recruit Sienna Williams among its members.
The offer places Iowa alongside a crowded field that includes Texas Tech, BYU, Missouri, Alabama, Colorado, Florida and a host of Big Ten rivals such as Oregon, Rutgers, Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin, underscoring the competitive nature of the recruitment.
Coaches say the addition of Morris could reshape the Hawkeyes’ frontcourt dynamics, providing a versatile weapon that can stretch the floor and protect the rim, while also reinforcing the program’s momentum in the national recruiting arena.
