The decisive victory unfolded on July 11 in New Canaan, where the Hawks edged Brookfield 10-8 in a game that swung back and forth until the final innings.
Chris Fairbairn ignited the offense with a three-run home run in the first inning, propelling Newtown to a 5-2 lead that set the tone for the contest.
Luke Trefny added a crucial solo homer in the fourth inning, breaking a 6-6 tie and giving the Hawks a momentum boost that they capitalized on.
On the mound, Owen Leighton started for Newtown before being relieved by Trefny and later by Colin Scholz, a strategy that kept the opposition off balance.
Road to the World Series
Following the state title, the Hawks are now turning their focus to the Cal Ripken World Series, scheduled to take place in Branson, Missouri, from August 6 through August 16.
