A strategic shift for the Eagles
Boston College announced the addition of Brodey Bitove, a transfer outfielder who spent the previous season at Indiana University. The move marks the sixth new player added to the roster this offseason, underscoring the program’s aggressive rebuilding effort.
Bitove, a native of Toronto, Ontario, brings a blend of collegiate experience and summer‑league performance. He previously played at Pepperdine University and excelled in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, where he topped the circuit with seven extra‑base hits in nine games. In his final season at Pepperdine he posted a .162 average with a .288 on‑base percentage across 31 appearances, but his slash line in the NECBL was far more promising at .345/.457/.724 with seven RBIs, four doubles, two triples, a home run and three stolen bases.
The roster moves coincide with a shake‑up in the coaching staff. Former pitching coach Ryan Forrest was recently appointed head coach at Princeton University, while outfield and hitting coach Greg Sullivan was let go earlier in the offseason. The program is now searching for two assistant coaches to fill the vacated roles.
Athletic director Todd Interdonato, who has overseen the recent transitions, emphasized the need for fresh talent and experienced guidance as the Eagles aim to compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The combination of new players and a revamped coaching staff signals a decisive push to restore competitiveness.
