Iowa’s men’s basketball program has officially offered a scholarship to Parker McDaniel, a 6‑foot‑3, 170‑pound shooting guard from Tulsa, Oklahoma, who is slated to graduate in the class of 2028.
McDaniel, currently a three‑star recruit, checks in at No. 97 nationally according to 247Sports and is listed as the 28th‑best shooting guard in the country. He also holds the distinction of being the second‑ranked player in Oklahoma, a state that has produced several recent Division I talents.
A Recruit Gaining Momentum
His high school career at South Central Prep is complemented by club play with the Southern Assault AAU program, where he has attracted attention from a suite of collegiate programs. In addition to Iowa, McDaniel has received offers from Washington, West Virginia, Kansas, Utah, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Northwestern, Cal, Mississippi State, Hawaii, Oral Roberts, Louisiana Tech and Sam Houston.
The recruitment narrative took a decisive turn when McDaniel made an unofficial visit to Iowa City in February. While on campus he witnessed the Hawkeyes defeat Nebraska 57‑52, an experience that left a lasting impression of the program’s atmosphere and facilities.
Later that spring, he was invited to USA Basketball’s junior national team minicamp in Indianapolis, where he trained alongside some of the nation’s most coveted prospects. The exposure at the camp has only amplified the buzz surrounding his future decision.
With a blend of size, shooting ability and competitive drive, McDaniel represents a promising addition to Iowa’s upcoming roster. As the recruiting cycle progresses, the Hawkeyes will look to leverage this commitment to strengthen their pipeline of talent for the seasons ahead.
