A Strategic Addition
The Alaska Nanooks have added Ethen Stoddard, a 6‑8 center from Orem, Utah, to their roster for the upcoming season. Stoddard arrives after a standout year with Utah State Eastern, where he contributed 6.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting 62.1% from the field.
Coach Frank Ostanik highlighted the player's size, athleticism and potential, noting that Stoddard can impact the game on both ends of the floor. The coaching staff believes the new recruit will help tighten defense and provide reliable scoring options.
Expectations on the Court
Stoddard is expected to make an immediate impact, especially against conference rivals where he averaged 8.3 points and 3.7 rebounds. His career‑high 16 points against North Idaho College on Jan. 31, 2026, illustrate his ability to rise to the occasion when the team needs it most.
At 22 years old and still a sophomore, Stoddard represents a young talent with room to grow. The Nanooks hope his development will complement existing frontcourt players and strengthen the program's depth as they aim for a competitive season.
