UMass Basketball Sets Up Historic Rematch with Boston College at TD Garden

The TNT Sports Hall of Fame Series features a championship rematch and a ticket that grants access to two games.

A historic rematch at the TD Garden

The University of Massachusetts men’s basketball team is slated to open its season against Boston College on November 6 inside the TD Garden, the iconic arena in Boston.

The matchup is part of the TNT Sports Hall of Fame Series Boston, a showcase that also includes a Michigan versus UConn rematch of the 2026 national championship game, with a single ticket granting entry to both contests.

Head coach Frank Martin, who grew up in the region, expressed enthusiasm about bringing his squad to the home state for the contest, emphasizing the program’s desire to build on recent successes.

A year ago, UMass edged Boston College 76‑71 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, with Marcus Banks Jr. delivering 29 points, Daniel Hankins‑Sanford adding 17, and Leonardo Bettiol contributing 12.

That victory marked the first meeting between the programs in 11 years and extended UMass’s 11‑3 edge in neutral‑site meetings, while the all‑time series stands at 26‑22 in favor of the Eagles.

The schedule will continue on December 6 when UMass travels to Springfield to face Wake Forest in the Hall of Fame Classic, further testing the team’s depth before the holiday season.

Beyond the Boston College game, the Minutemen are also slated to meet Wake Forest in the Hall of Fame Classic on Dec. 6 in Springfield, adding another layer to a busy non‑conference slate.
