A Stature Like No Other
At seven feet five inches, Jeremy Gohier towers above most of his peers, a physical presence that has turned heads from the basketball courts of Quebec to the professional arenas of France.
His unconventional haircut, inspired by a 2002 Ronaldo Nazário look, has sparked a wave of social‑media commentary, while comparisons to French star Victor Wembanyama surface daily.
Yet Gohier insists he is not merely a copy of any predecessor. His coach repeatedly emphasizes that the young Canadian wants to forge an identity defined by versatility, footwork and a relentless work ethic.
The journey has been methodical. Between ages nine and twelve he devoted himself to agility drills, boxing sessions and body‑control exercises, laying a foundation that now supports his rapid physical transformation.
This year he added roughly 40 pounds of muscle, bringing his weight above that of Wembanyama at the same age, a change that his mentors say unlocks new dimensions of play.
Now slated to join Nanterre 92 — the same club that launched Wembanyama’s professional career — Gohier will benefit from a professional support staff while continuing to refine his game.
Off the court, a tight‑knit family operation manages his public image, with his mother overseeing his Instagram presence and his mentor Olivier Rioux, a 7‑foot‑9 center, guiding his physical development.
Despite the growing hype, Gohier remains grounded, focusing on daily improvement and the long‑term goal of becoming a dominant force in the NBA.
