Eric Reveno Takes the Helm at Brown
Eric Reveno, a former Stanford player and coach, has been appointed as the new head basketball coach at Brown University, taking over the program that has been seeking a resurgence in the Ivy League.
Reveno arrives after a decade of success at Stanford, where he helped the Cardinal to nine 20‑win seasons, three 30‑win campaigns and eight NCAA Tournament berths, compiling a record that includes 140 victories as head coach at Portland and a stint as James C. Gaither Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach and General Manager.
Known for his advocacy of the All Vote, No Play movement, Reveno has been lauded with the Guardians of the Game Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches in 2021, and he brings a philosophy that blends elite academics with championship‑level competition.
A Legacy of Coaching Excellence
His hiring marks the latest link in the Kyle Smith coaching tree, a network that has produced several head coaches across the country, including Reveno himself, Kyle Smith, and others such as Maxime Raynaud, Ebuka Okorie, Jon Jaques, Kevin Hovde, Brett MacConnell, Todd Golden, Mike Magpayo, Mike Montgomery and Trent Johnson, all of whom have contributed to the development of modern college basketball.
Brown Athletics, in partnership with Stanford University and the National Association of Basketball Coaches, looks forward to a new era where strategic leadership and community engagement will drive the Bears to new heights.
