A Milestone for Bulldog Hockey
Scott Sandelin, the long‑standing head coach of the University of Minnesota Duluth’s men’s hockey program, announced this week that he will remain at the helm through the 2029‑30 season, securing his tenure for another five years.
Sandelin, who entered his 26th season with the Bulldogs, has compiled a career record of 493‑423‑105, the most wins in program history, and has guided the team to three national championships and twelve NCAA tournament appearances.

Expressing gratitude, Sandelin thanked UMD Athletic Director Forrest Karr and Chancellor Charles Nies for their unwavering trust and support, noting that their confidence has been instrumental in the program’s sustained excellence.
He also voiced enthusiasm about continuing to work with his current staff and the next generation of players, emphasizing the importance of building on the proud tradition of Bulldog hockey.

The renewed contract not only stabilizes the leadership structure but also signals a commitment to maintaining competitive depth and fostering player development in the coming years.
With the coaching staff locked in, the Bulldogs aim to preserve their storied legacy while pursuing fresh milestones, ensuring that the program remains a cornerstone of collegiate hockey in the Upper Midwest.
