Danny Shannon was officially appointed as an assistant coach for the Siena Women's Soccer program in July 2026, marking a strategic addition to the team's technical staff.
A Goalkeeper’s Perspective
Shannon's career has been defined by his work between the posts, most recently as a goalkeeper coach with the New York Shockers and Beestera Soccer. His volunteer stint at the University at Albany earlier this spring further honed his ability to develop young talent, and his reputation for thoughtful mentality aligns with the program's philosophy.
Beyond coaching, Shannon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University at Albany, complemented by a minor in Psychology. He previously played four seasons for the Great Danes men's soccer team, earning recognition as the America East Defender of the Week on September 12, 2022, and concluding his collegiate eligibility with a graduate season at Binghamton, where he started eight matches.
Leadership Welcomes a New Voice
Head coach Steve Karbowski expressed enthusiasm about Shannon's arrival, highlighting his desire to coach and the mentality that will enrich the squad. "We are excited to welcome Danny to the Siena Women's Soccer family," Karbowski said, emphasizing the collaborative environment that the new staff member will help foster.
The appointment underscores Siena's commitment to blending playing experience with coaching acumen, positioning the program for continued growth in the competitive collegiate landscape. With a network that spans New York, Albany, and Binghamton, Shannon's background reflects a deep connection to the region's soccer community.
