Award Recognizes Academic Excellence
The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced that eight baseball programs from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) have been selected for the 2025‑26 Team Academic Excellence Award.
To qualify, each team posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, a benchmark the ABCA uses to spotlight programs that balance competitive play with scholarly achievement.
The recognized institutions — Augsburg University, Bethel University, Carleton College, Hamline University, Macalester College, Saint John’s University, St. Olaf College, and St. Scholastica — were identified in a press release as the conference’s representatives.
Eligibility and Recognition Process
Coaches were required to submit nominations before the July 17 deadline, and only programs affiliated with a current ABCA member serving as head coach were eligible.
The ABCA, which has a longstanding tradition of honoring both coaching excellence and student‑athlete accomplishments, also administers the ABCA/Rawlings All‑America Teams, the oldest such recognition dating back to 1949.
In addition to the academic award, the association’s honors roster includes the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award, further emphasizing the organization’s multifaceted approach to the sport.

Since its inception, the ABCA’s awards program has expanded to encompass a variety of distinctions, reinforcing the association’s role as a steward of integrity, ethics, and academic rigor within collegiate baseball.
