Rockford is set to welcome roughly 6,900 visitors during its inaugural Women’s Baseball Week, a seven‑day celebration that is projected to generate about $2.8 million in local spending and fill more than 3,550 hotel room nights.
The schedule features the Women’s Baseball World Cup group stage at Rivets Stadium in nearby Loves Park, a reunion of former All‑American Girls Professional Baseball League stars, and the nation’s largest girls’ baseball tournament, which will host nearly 1,000 players aged six to eighteen.
Organizers say the event builds on Rockford’s deep baseball roots, highlighted by recent renovations at the International Women’s Baseball Center’s Beyer Stadium and the city’s long‑standing partnership with GoRockford, the regional tourism board.
Teams from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Mexico, the United States and several other nations will compete, marking the tenth edition of the World Cup and only the second time it has been staged in the United States.
Lindsay Arellano, GoRockford’s vice president of sales and service, said the week offers a chance to showcase the city’s heritage while inspiring the next generation of players. Justine Siegal, founder of Baseball For All, called Rockford an ideal venue for the historic occasion, and Amiee Crosby, a board director for the All‑American Girls Professional Baseball League, emphasized the emotional resonance of the player reunions.
Beyond the competition, the week includes a sold‑out program at Midway Village Museum and a gathering at the Rockford Woman’s Club, underscoring the community’s commitment to preserving the sport’s legacy.
