A Milestone on the Diamond
The Shawano Lobos baseball organization is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a tournament and reunion weekend that brings together players, families, and fans for a series of events culminating in a championship game.
The championship game is set for 7 p.m. on Friday at Bill Krueger Field at Martzke Park, where the current Lobos team is battling for a playoff spot in the Dairyland League.
The roots of the program trace back to 1986, when the team fielded a modest roster with limited equipment and modest financial backing, a far cry from the well‑organized club it is today.
From the start, the Lobos have emphasized local talent, drawing many players from families across the Shawano area and forging a strong community identity.
Hall of Fame Honors
As part of the reunion weekend, the organization will induct six distinguished contributors into its Hall of Fame, recognizing decades of service from volunteers, coaches, and players who have helped shape the program.
The festivities also include the annual Lobo raffle, featuring inning‑by‑inning drawings and a $1,000 grand prize, adding a lively element to the celebration.
The success of the Lobos over the past four decades is credited to strong community support and the dedication of its members and volunteers, a testament to the team's lasting impact on the region.
