2026 All-Area Baseball Team
The 2026 Herald-Whig All-Area Baseball Team celebrates the brightest talents to emerge from the high schools of Missouri and Illinois, a cohort that has turned the regional diamond into a showcase of power, precision, and poise.
At the center of the honor roll stands Wes Robertson, whose dual mastery of bat and mound earned him the coveted Most Valuable Player award; his .425 average, 12 home runs, and 1.85 ERA underscored a season that left coaches and scouts alike reaching for their notebooks.
Reed Sparrow was crowned Hitter of the Year after posting a .480 batting average, driving in 38 runs and delivering a .950 OPS that placed him among the most feared hitters in the conference.
Ethan Carlisle collected Pitcher of the Year honors, his 1.78 ERA and 112 strikeouts painting a picture of dominance that helped anchor his team’s postseason push.
Freshman phenom Bennett Straube burst onto the scene with a .410 average and a series of clutch hits, earning Freshman of the Year as he helped reshape expectations for young players.
Coach Scott Gaines was recognized as Coach of the Year for steering North Shelby to a third-place finish in Class 1, a feat that highlighted his strategic acumen and ability to rally a resilient squad.
Other standouts included Logan Kroeger, a first-team All-Clarence Cannon Conference selection whose .415 average and stellar defense earned him a spot on the elite list, and Raeson Miller, who led Palmyra with a .440 average and a high OPS while also earning All-CCC honors.
Cameron Lawson’s 42 stolen bases set a team record, while Cooper Scott’s second-team Class 5 All-State selection and 28 RBIs highlighted a season of quiet consistency; Gavin Doellman, a three-sport athlete, contributed a .380 average and a slugging percentage that turned heads across the board.
