A Championship‑Winning Coach Returns to the Fairway
Ferris State University will hold its annual Men’s Basketball Golf Outing on July 22 at the scenic Katke Golf Course in Mecosta County, Michigan. The event, which blends sport and philanthropy, invites participants to enjoy a round of golf while helping fund the Bulldogs’ basketball program.
Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., with an 18‑hole tournament followed by meals, raffles and auctions. Attendees can choose between a $110 individual fee or a $440 team package, and all proceeds will be directed toward the university’s athletic initiatives.
This year’s outing will feature Brooks Miller, the newly appointed head coach of the Bulldogs. Miller, a two‑time National Coach of the Year, previously guided Trine University to the 2024 NCAA Division III championship, bringing a winning pedigree to his first season at Ferris State.
Katke Golf Course, celebrated for its rolling fairways and panoramic views, spans more than 6,847 yards and sits at the highest elevation in Mecosta County. The course has earned local accolades for its design and natural beauty, making it a fitting venue for a event that highlights both athletic excellence and community spirit.
Beyond the competition, the outing underscores the Bulldogs’ storied legacy, boasting over 1,300 career victories and 13 GLIAC regular‑season or tournament titles since 2004. Supporters will have the chance to contribute directly to the program’s future while enjoying a day on one of the finest university‑owned courses in the United States.
