Nate DiCasmirro has been named the new head coach of the Wheeling team in the ECHL, stepping into the role after Ryan Papaoinnou departed for the Abbotsford Canucks.
DiCasmirro arrives with a deep résumé that includes years as an assistant in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors and stints abroad coaching the Graz99ers in the ICEHL and Austria’s under‑20 national side.
Having spent 17 professional seasons on the ice, he logged more than 400 games in the AHL, giving him a player’s perspective that he now brings to the bench.
The franchise is known for its winning culture, and DiCasmirro says his priority will be to preserve that tradition while accelerating the development of young talent ready for higher levels of competition.
His background working with NHL affiliates such as the Edmonton Oilers and Iowa Wild, as well as his international coaching experience, equips him to guide prospects toward the next stage of their careers.
