A Season of Honor
Troy University will stage its annual Military Appreciation football game on Saturday, October 24, 2026, when the Trojans host the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM). The Sun Belt West Division clash serves as the centerpiece of a series of patriotic events that run throughout the fall schedule.
The game will be preceded by a pregame flyover featuring helicopters from Fort Rucker, adding a vivid display of military might above the stadium. Halftime will showcase the “Walk of Heroes” ceremony, where an oath of enlistment will be administered to incoming recruits, and fans will have the opportunity to inscribe messages for service members stationed overseas at a dedicated tent.
Beyond the on‑field action, Troy Football has woven a broader narrative of national commemoration into the season. The team will celebrate America 250 during its season‑opening game on September 5, and will observe Patriot Day alongside the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on September 12. Both milestones are marked with special tributes that tie the university’s athletic platform to broader civic remembrance.
Connecting Sport and Service
A key component of the outreach is the Community Hero Ticket Program, which grants military personnel, teachers, first responders and children’s charities complimentary tickets and the ability to purchase season passes that can be donated to those serving overseas. Fans are encouraged to purchase Community Hero Season Tickets, thereby extending the reach of the university’s gratitude to families of deployed service members. The upcoming contest exemplifies how college athletics can serve as a conduit for community engagement and national solidarity, integrating military tributes, fan‑driven messaging, and charitable ticket initiatives to celebrate the contributions of service members and reinforce a culture of appreciation that resonates throughout the campus and beyond.
