A Historic Season for the Program
Mendes has been virtually untouchable this spring, ranking tenth nationally in wins with nine, twelfth in strikeouts with 109, and fifteenth in WHIP at 1.00. He tops the ACC in innings pitched (62.1) and strikeouts (79), numbers that have helped him become a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and a watch list candidate for the National Pitcher of the Year awarded by the College Baseball Foundation.
The recognition extends beyond Mendes. Senior reliever John Abraham, along with starters Trey Beard and Brayden Dowd, earned spots on the All‑ACC third team, while freshman outfielder John Stuetzer was selected to the All‑Freshman Team.
