The New England Revolution marked Pride Night with a special celebration at Gillette Stadium, hosting its 12th annual Unified soccer match that brings together athletes with intellectual disabilities and their partners.
A Night of Unity
The evening featured a competitive showdown between the Revolution’s Unified squad and Toronto’s Unified team, drawing one of the largest crowds the club has seen for such an event.
Head coach Marko Mitrović was front and center, cheering on the Unified side and later expressing gratitude for the community’s support.
Goalkeeper JD Gunn, a vocal advocate for the program, highlighted the team’s unity and the importance of inclusion in soccer.
The Revolution’s Unified roster, comprised of 19 athletes and partners, has been assembled through open tryouts, and the group is set to travel to BMO Field for a rematch against Toronto next month.
Despite a 3‑0 loss, the Unified side impressed onlookers with standout defensive performances, including a series of saves by Gunn that kept the score respectable.
Beyond the match, the night underscored a broader partnership with Special Olympics Massachusetts and local sponsor Arbella Insurance Group, reinforcing efforts to make soccer accessible to all.
The event also served as a launchpad for Alyson Green and Billy Scanlon, who will represent the Revolution as MLS Unified All‑Stars in Charlotte, North Carolina, later this summer.
Looking ahead, the club will host its annual Bowl for a Goal fundraiser on August 4, with proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Massachusetts.
