A Dual Commitment to Service and Scholarship
Johns Hopkins University linebacker Browning Trainer has been selected for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, a honor that spotlights college football players who combine community service with academic distinction.
Trainer, a rising senior from Northbrook, Illinois, brings a 3.66 cumulative GPA and five Dean’s List recognitions to the conversation, underscoring his commitment to scholarship as well as sport.
Leadership in Baltimore’s Youth Programs
On the field, he earned Second Team All‑Centennial Conference honors last season after leading his squad with 102 tackles, and he has been elected team captain for the upcoming 2026 campaign.
Beyond athletics, Trainer serves as President of Blue Jays for Baltimore, a nonprofit that mobilizes more than 100 volunteers and partners with ten local organizations to empower city youth through academics and athletics.
Under his direction, the group has raised substantial funds via an annual golf tournament and a cruise‑based fundraiser, expanding its reach across the Baltimore community.
His mentorship extends to the Pen Lucy Action Network, where he works with elementary students, and to YoungLife, where he meets weekly with a mentee for breakfast and fellowship. He also participates in the Classroom Champion program, pairing with a Blue Jay track athlete to guide K‑8 classrooms.
Through these initiatives, Trainer exemplifies the blend of leadership, service, and academic rigor that the AFCA Good Works Team seeks to celebrate.
