Murray State University has released its non‑conference basketball schedule for the 2026‑27 season, a slate that blends regional rivalries with out‑of‑state tests designed to sharpen the team before Ohio Valley Conference play.
Opening night in Sioux Falls
The Racers open the campaign on November 2 against Tennessee State in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, marking the first meeting between the programs in several years.
A week later, on November 14, Murray State travels to Reno, Nevada, to meet Santa Clara, and then heads to Southaven, Mississippi, for a November 21 clash with Hofstra as part of the Savage Bros Showcase.
A test of depth
The schedule also includes a December 6 matchup at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, where the Racers will face Georgia Tech, adding another Power Five opponent to the early slate.
Second year, new expectations
Head coach Ryan Miller, now in his second season, will rely on the experience gained from last year’s run while integrating fresh talent into a roster that aims to compete from the outset.
These early‑season games are more than just wins and losses; they provide a laboratory for Miller’s offensive schemes and defensive adjustments, giving the team a chance to gel before the rigorous conference schedule begins.
