The team’s attention quickly turned to the driver who might follow him in 2028, with Corey Day emerging as the first name on the shortlist after a promising stint in the developmental circuit.
However, Hendrick’s leadership has now set its sights on Connor Zilisch, a prodigious talent currently under contract with Trackhouse Racing, who is expected to transition to the organization once his existing deal expires at the end of the year.
A shifting future
Zilisch’s anticipated move promises to reshape the driver market, as Day’s own future hangs in the balance; the veteran could find a new home at Trackhouse, while Hendrick prepares to integrate a driver many insiders label a generational prospect.
