Gabe Nesmith, a top‑30 national prospect, has reclassified from the 2027 recruiting cycle to join Vanderbilt's basketball program a year early. The move comes after a standout season on the EYBL circuit where he averaged 18.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
Nesmith's decision is bolstered by a family connection to Vanderbilt's recent NBA alum, his cousin Aaron Nesmith, and by offers from traditional powerhouses such as Auburn, Kansas, Ole Miss, Georgia, Providence and Florida State.
Vanderbilt's roster already features star guard Tyler Tanner, who chose to return after testing the NBA Draft, and five transfers that include Washington State guard Ace Glass and Colorado forward Bangot Dak. The Commodores also welcome a freshman class highlighted by four‑star recruits Ethan Mgbako, Anthony Brown and center Jackson Sheffield.
