Wagner College announced Tuesday that Ty Goode has been appointed as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2026–27 men’s basketball season, marking a new chapter for the program under head coach Dwan McMillan.
A Brooklyn Roots
Goode, a native of Brooklyn, New York, returns to the city where he honed his defensive skills on the streets of the borough before starring at Fairfield University.
During his collegiate career, he earned the 2004 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honor and helped William E. Grady High School capture a New York City PSAL Championship, earning First Team All‑City recognition.
After graduating with a Business Administration degree in Information Systems from Fairfield in 2005, Goode embarked on a coaching journey that would span two decades.
From Player to Coach
His first major stop came at Saint Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, where he served as a varsity assistant for nine seasons, overseeing recruiting, student‑athlete evaluation and game strategy.
At Fordham University, Goode spent three years wearing multiple hats, including Recruiting/Video Coordinator and Assistant Recruiting Coordinator, while also working closely with McMillan for two of those seasons.
Most recently, he contributed to New Jersey Institute of Technology’s staff during the 2025–26 campaign, further refining his approach to player development and scouting.
Strategic Vision
Wagner’s athletic director praised the hire, stating that Goode’s blend of defensive acumen, recruiting savvy and deep‑rooted city connections should help elevate the team’s competitiveness in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Corporation.
Goode’s appointment aligns with Wagner’s broader strategy to strengthen its defensive identity and expand its recruiting footprint in the Northeast, positioning the program for a resurgence in the coming seasons.
