Damon Wilson, a pass‑rusher who has already worn the jerseys of three different colleges in just three years, was selected to the USA TODAY Network All‑ACC first team for the 2026 season.
At Missouri he posted 23 tackles, nine sacks, a pass breakup, an interception and a forced fumble, numbers that would have topped Georgia’s entire season production, a team that finished last in the SEC with only 20 sacks.
Now at Miami, Wilson is aiming to translate that production into an ACC championship and a return to the College Football Playoff after the Hurricanes fell short in the national title game earlier this year.
Miami’s Ambitious Outlook
The Hurricanes entered the preseason as the ACC’s favorites, hoping to bounce back from a heartbreaking championship loss and to harness a defense that includes Wilson, Ahmad Moten and Bryce Fitzgerald.
All three earned first‑team All‑ACC honors, with Wilson also receiving votes for defensive player of the year, signaling a deep defensive talent pool.
If Wilson can sustain his pass‑rush impact, NFL scouts are already tagging him as a potential first‑round pick in the 2027 draft.
