The 09 girls blue team of Marin FC captured the ECNL North American Cup, completing a tournament run that will be remembered for its intensity and resilience.
The road to the title
Seeded seventh in a 16‑team knockout, the squad navigated a series of one‑goal contests, including a dramatic penalty shootout against Ohio Premier and a victory over Kansas City Athletics that also went to spot kicks.
Their final against Nationals SC ended 3‑2, sealing the championship after a three‑hour delay caused by lightning and a stretch in which the team played with only ten players due to accumulated yellow cards.
The run built upon an extended unbeaten streak that began on May 30, 2025, and stretched through April 18, 2026, during which the team posted a 10‑3‑7 record and finished fourth in the league table.
Stars of the squad
Key contributors included Tatum D'Angelica, who found the net four times in four games, and Julia Myerberg, whose assists helped shape several of the decisive moments; both players are set to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
Delaney Kumer, Addi Sarina, Teagan McCormick, Blythe DeGooyer, Dahlia Scanlon, Jaela Brown and Keira Bromwell also played pivotal roles throughout the campaign, providing depth and stability as the team overcame each obstacle.
Under the auspices of United Soccer Coaches, the tournament highlighted the growing reputation of the club on the national stage and underscored the impact of coaching staff and development programs that have produced talent recognized by institutions such as Tufts University, where Myerberg plans to enroll in 2027.
